Clallam foster kids Christmas shop with Roughneck bikers, cops and Santa
Nearly 40 foster kids got to go Christmas shopping today with bikers from the Roughnecks Motorcycle Club, local law enforcement and Santa Claus.
The Clallam and Olympia Roughnecks chapters sponsored the event, giving each kid $100 to spend however they wanted.
Law Enforcement Officers from the Port Angeles Police Department, Clallam County Sheriff's Office, US Customs and Border Protection, Elwha Police Department, Suquamish Police Department and Department of Corrections also participated in the event, helping kids pick out toys and staying on budget.
Shortly after the kids arrived at Walmart, a line of law enforcement vehicles parked in front of the store with flashing lights. Santa stepped out of a Port Angeles Police Department car and greeted the kids before their shopping spree.
The Roughnecks Motorcycle Club is made up of active and retired law enforcement, military and public safety personnel.
Local chapters support local children when they have to testify in court, with achieving education goals and helping with basic needs by contributing to an annual shoe drive.
“If we have reached out with a need, they have stepped up to fill it,” said Val Brooks, program coordinator for the Clallam County Child Advocates Program. “We are very blessed to have them supporting our local foster children.”
Because this is such a great event for the community I have made downloads of these photos free for all involved. Also, 50% of all print sales (through Dec. 31) from this event will go straight to Friends of Clallam County Child Advocates.
